Thanks for this, Richard. I met Archbishop Pierre (before he became cardinal) at the Francis at 10 Conference at St Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa in March 2023.

He told me that his mother had been one of the founder of the Action Catholique Indépendante (ACI), the French Specialised Catholic Action movement known internationally as MIAMSI.

So he has a long family history of the SJA!

One has to wonder, at least I do, about the influences we all have from family growing up. Pierre had positve influences and obvious his mother was an example, here in the US I wonder what life for people like Strickland and Burke were like growing up. As parents we don't think about that, our two children are as different as night and day, our son always gravitated to "a walk on the wild side" of life, and our daughter not so much. But our son, who is a lawyer now at Christmas said to us, in all the family court cases he experiences as a family lawyer, he says kids who suffer because of their parents. And then he said, which was a shock to us, "I am so grateful for how you guys raised us to be independent, to think, to make mistakes and learn."
