Think about how comfortable we have become being Christians that we forget what being a Christian is all about. One of the major discoveries historans came to realize about the early church movement in the first two hundred years was the importance of meals, How much focus they placed on meals, here is the US the closed thing that come to that experience of the early followers is what we would call Protestant Suppers.

Good observation, Richard. Before the first Christians were ejected from the synagogue, they would move from their synagogue sabbath prayer to someone’s home and celebrate the Lord’s supper and continue the conviviality. I am not sure how much you know about the Youth Alpha program. We ran it in a school I taught in and it always began with breakfast. A good way to get people involved. One youth ministry leader once told me the 4 Fs of Catholic Youth Ministry: friends, fun, food and faith.
